Smart & Sustainable Standard
Better learning. Stronger operations. A shared respect for the sea.
For a nautical centre, quality takes shape on shore and on the water. S3 brings the learning experience, the reliability of your organisation and your relationship with the marine environment into one discussion.

Your priorities, viewed together.
Support a safe learning environment
Review responsibilities, emergency arrangements, equipment care and the organisation of movements and activities on the water.
Make responsible practice tangible
Connect resource use, energy and environmental awareness with the routines your teams and participants follow.
Share skills beyond the session
Consider instructor development, knowledge transfer, inclusion in the guest experience and engagement with the local nautical community.
Eight pillars. A complete view of your destination.
An environmental initiative, a service standard or a digital tool only tells part of the story. S3 brings eight complementary areas into one assessment, with evidence relevant to your activities and your stage of development.

From assessment to decisions you can act on.
Understand your position
A structured review of evidence and practices highlights strengths, gaps and the reasons behind the findings.
Set your priorities
Recommendations connect findings to improvement opportunities. An action plan helps organise responsibilities, priorities and next steps with your team.
Build lasting progress
Recognition is valid for three years. The aim is to support continuous improvement, rather than make the label an end in itself.
Recognition depends on both the overall score and the minimum score across the eight pillars. The applicable thresholds are presented in the journey and levels guide. Flagship and Sovereign, the two highest levels, are a prerequisite to apply for La Belle Classe Destinations by the Yacht Club de Monaco; admission is a separate decision.
See what an assessment can turn into.
Explore the S3 assessment resource to understand the connection between findings, recommendations and an action plan. The examples are illustrative: they are not the audited results of a recognised nautical centre.
Start with a conversation about your facility.
Discuss your activities and objectives with M3 Monaco, agree the scope, then prepare the evidence needed for assessment. Your existing certifications can inform that discussion; they do not automatically determine an S3 level.
Is the approach relevant to a sailing school?
Nautical centres and sailing schools can discuss their activities with M3 Monaco. The assessment scope and evidence must reflect what the organisation actually operates; a school is not assessed as if it were a marina.
Where could your next improvement begin?
Explore your starting point with the free, indicative self-assessment, or introduce your project to the M3 Monaco team. The self-assessment does not award a label.
